After being introduced to climbing while at university, Michael soon became addicted and got a part time job at the small local gym while completing his degree. Psych pushed him to make the 4 hour round trip to Sydney most weekends to climb outside, often solo camping at the crags or on nearby fields on the mondo - how versatile! This weekend pilgrimage continued after university and while he worked as an electrical engineer.
However, the passion slowly moved towards hiking and searching for first ascents with the joy coming from finding and learning how to climb something new, often unsure if it's possible and experimenting with beta. Fast forward a few years and he's now living closer to those boulders after moving to Sydney and is back working in a bouldering gym now as the general manager and head route setter. His passion for discovering new lines hasn't changed.
