Quality Backpack

I recently purchased the Stone 45 because I realized that I needed a backpack solely for going outdoor climbing. My regular backpack just wasn’t cutting it. After a day of trekking with the old pack and a sling bag for rope, my upper back was extremely tight and tense the next day or two. However, the Stone 45 comes with a brace so that you aren’t leaning forward to carry everything. The material is strong and I like the ability to open the pack via zipper in addition the stuff sack style.

Nice pack!

Great pack - size is perfect for carrying a double rack (if your partner carried the rope), along with helmet, shoes, harness, chalk bag, med kit, wag bag, layers, 2-3L of water, and plenty of snacks. Love the zipper down the side that allows for easy access to your stuff. Seems durable so far but I’ve only used it for a couple of months. Very pleased with the fit - I think I got a S/M and it fits my long torso (18”) and narrow waist/hips (24”/33”) very well so that the weight of the pack can actually sit on my hips and nkt my shoulders (a huge issue I have trying to find backapacking packs). Only critique is that I wish it had some outside side pockets to carry my coffee thermos!

Great all purpose climbing pack

This pack carries all the gear I need for a day at the crags, whether I’m traveling light to some short sport climbs or carry a rack with doubles of all the cams. It’s comfortable and carries well on my back, is really easy to access and get gear in and out of and is easy to adjust quickly.

Seems great so far

I love bd packs. They are often simple and just what you need. I had the old epic 35 and the zipper finally broke this summer. Was sad to see they don’t carry that pack anymore. I thought the stone 45 seemed comparable. I have it and haven’t used it but these are initial impressions: it fits well and the design is sleek. Seems a bit heavy the material is pretty thick, I was disappointed about this but it should hold up well. I also wish I’d had the comfort, shifting shoulder straps, though it does seem pretty comfy. I will likely use it for all kinds of things but not climbing: I Love my crag 40 for that. Hoping to use this for short backpack trips. Seems like a great pack.

Bombproof Crag Pack!

Great pack. Absolutely bombproof. The fit based on the sizing chart was spot on. Plenty of pockets/straps/clipping points. The perfect size for toting a rope, trad rack, harness, shoes, helmet, etc. to the crag. More quality gear from Black Diamond.
